Cardinal Nursing & Rehabilitation Success |

The Joshua Arnett miracle – Josh came to Cardinal Nursing and Rehabilitation in a "vegetative state" from complications from an accident and resulting aspiration. He arrived with Hospice orders and a terminal diagnosis. This young man quickly won the hearts of our staff, which took turns sitting with him (he had very limited family support) and were stirred to excitement when Josh squeezed a CNA’s hand.
With the help of our therapy team, plus lots of TLC from the Cardinal Nursing and Rehabilitation staff, Josh was soon sitting up in bed, speaking a word or two and smiling. Within sixty days he could be found walking the halls (with assistance), eating on his own and talking. Just 142 days later Joshua walked out of Cardinal Nursing and Rehabilitation and off to Missouri to live with his sister. All of us at Cardinal Nursing and Rehabilitation thank God and the wonders of medicine for the Joshua Arnett miracle. Prior to coming to Cardinal Nursing and Rehabilitation, Ms DePoy lived independently in her own home. She even had her own paper route, which required her to walk 10 miles each day.
She was involved in a motor vehicle accident in downtown South Bend while walking and suffered multiple fractures. She chose Cardinal Nursing and Rehabilitation's Moving Forward program because of the excellent reputation of the rehab team.
She was determined to walk again and after 13 weeks of therapy, a great deal of hard work on her part, and lots of encouragement and interaction with her friends and church people; she was able to return to her home and even resumed her walking paper route.
