ImageEdith Smith was admitted to Beech Grove Meadow from Community Hospital North. She had experienced difficulty functioning mentally due to a recent surgery, along with feeling weak and debilitated. Her family toured a number of communities and decided Beech Grove Meadows was the place for Edith to be! They were most impressed with the exclusive rehabilitation wing that provides short-term care for people like Edith.

Edith arrived with confusion, overall weakness, and increased risk of falls. After her therapy evaluation, the therapists determined she needed extensive assistance with activities of daily living, and required a two-person transfer. Through the intensive therapy program at Beech Grove Meadows, and Edith’s determination, she was able to return home independently with home care. Upon discharge, Edith was able to walk independently!
ImageMrs. Rogers came to Beech Grove Meadows this past January after a brief stay in St. Francis Beech Grove Hospital. She had sustained a fall at home that resulted in a hip fracture. As the primary caregiver of a special needs child, she was particularly concerned about how long it would take to get back on her feet. She was placed in a new private suite on the Moving Forward Rehab Unit and was very pleased to find out that her family had the comfort of space and privacy as well as flexible visitation hours.

During her stay, Mrs. Rogers experienced much difficulty in walking, transferring to and from chairs and the bathroom as well as dressing and bathing. She was determined and motivated to do her best with each therapy session and made excellent progress. She prepared to discharge home independently when she acquired an upper respiratory infection that landed her back in the hospital. After completing antibiotic therapy and weaning off oxygen, Mrs. Rogers completed her therapy home evaluation and discharged home in April.

Beech Grove Meadows wishes Mrs. Rogers the best as her never-ending optimism will be missed by both the staff and other residents.

"I’m ready to go home only because you guys work so hard!"
